Create Maui is an art studio providing quality art lessons, workshops, and events. Join us for one of our after-school classes, a jewelry workshop, or let us host your next ladies night or birthday party! Create Maui can also travel to your next special event to provide a memorable art experience for your guests.
The Mission of Create Maui is to provide an environment that inspires creativity and exploration of the arts. Through quality instruction, students are exposed to new ways of seeing and creating art. Students learn fundamental techniques that nurture the development of their own personal style of visual expression. Create Maui hopes to give you a life-long love of the arts!
Create Maui began as a small dream in a garage in 2010. The goal was to create a homey, welcoming studio for children to explore the wonder and joy of art. Owner and instructor Monica Knight has been in the art education field for over 10 years. She holds a Masters Degree in Education from Azusa Pacific university, a bachelor’s degree in Art History from Brown University, and a K-12 teaching credential in Art. In Maui, she has taught and led programs at Sacred Hearts School, Kapalua Art School, the Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center, Kahului Baptist Preschool, and Smart Start Preschool. She began taking art lessons at the age of 6 in a garage art studio reminiscent of this one.

Drawing Styles
This class will expand on foundational drawing techniques and introduce a variety of drawing styles. Students will experiment with techniques in graffiti, illustration, abstract, and pop art. We will use a variety of media, including paint markers, watercolors, fountain pens, and colored pencils.
Dates: March 31 – May 8 (6 classes)
Price: $113 (includes supplies and tax)

Summer Art Camps
Clay Animals
Join us to make Fun, creative clay projects based on everyone’s favorite theme: Animals! Students will practice basic clay techniques such as pinch, coil, slab, stamping, sgraffito, slip and score To make animal sculptures, pots, dishes, pencil holders, masks, etc– Everything in animal form! 🙂 (*We will be using air dry clay for this class.)
June 1-5
9-11:30am or 2-4:30pm
Ages 5 and up
Price: $200 (Includes clay supplies and taxes)
Watercolor Workshop
Students will learn basic watercolor techniques such as color application and mixing, brushwork, use of water (wet-on-wet), and composition. Students will practice these techniques while creating beautiful landscapes, nature paintings, animal portraits, and abstract art.
July 6-10, 9-11:30 am or 2-4:30pm

Private and Semi-Private Lessons
Private and Semi-Private Lessons are available. I will customize classes according to the student’s interest and schedule. Please contact me for more info.
General Pricing (can vary depending on subject matter): $60/hour for one student, $80/hr for 2-3 students, $20/hr per student for a class of 4 or more. Drawing and Painting supplies are included, additional supply fee for jewelry, clay, or sculpture.
